About Kumbia Kings

Founded by longtime producer and songwriter A.B. Quintanilla, Kumbia Kings used their unique blend of cumbia and hip-hop to become one of the biggest Latin bands of the 2000s. ∙ A.B. Quintanilla is the brother of the late Selena Quintanilla and was a songwriter, producer, and bassist in their widely successful family band Los Dinos until her death in 1995. ∙ Kumbia Kings’ 2001 hit album, Shhh!, was their first to enter the Billboard 200, and earned the group their third Billboard Latin Music Award for Pop Album of the Year. ∙ They received nine RIAA Latin Platinum certifications, including five multi-Platinum albums through 2006. ∙ Nominated for more than 10 Latin Grammy Awards, they won Best Tropical Regional Mexican Album honors for A.B. Quintanilla III Presents Kumbia Kings - Live in 2006. ∙ Quintanilla left the group in 2006 and formed Kumbia All Starz, landing two LPs on the Billboard 200: From Kumbia Kings to Kumbia All-Starz (2006) and Planeta Kumbia (2008). ∙ Renamed Los Super Reyes in 2007, producer and original member Cruz Martínez led the remaining members of the group to three Premios Oye! Nominations from 2008 to 2010.
