About Kitty Kat Fan Club
Kitty Kat Fan Club's light-hearted, energetic indie pop was born out of the members' desire to "hang out and write music," with the results first appearing on their feline-referencing debut EP, 2016's Songs About Cats.
Formed when Asian Man's Mike Park asked Casey Jones to hang and play some songs that he'd written, their light-hearted indie pop-punk was a natural progression of the bands he'd signed to his influential punk label. With Park playing guitar and Jones on vocals, they brought in drummer Justin Amans, guitarist Mike Huguenor, and bassist Morgan Herrell, to record their first EP. Entirely devoted to their feline friends, Songs About Cats was released in 2016 on Park's label. The follow-up EP, Work Space Grind, appeared the following year before the group played a number of select live dates, when individual members weren't on tour with their other bands. With their laid-back approach and revolving membership, the group delivered their debut album in 2019. The refreshed lineup, which now featured Brianda Nocheazul on vocals and keyboards, Sim Castro on guitar, and Jon McMaster on bass, joined Park, Jones, and Amans to record the hook-laden and gleefully twee pop long-player Dreamy Little You. ~ Rich Wilson
