Canadian singer-songwriter Kiesza is best known for her infectious 2014 house smash “Hideaway,” which topped the UK charts and earned her a Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

• Kiesza is Calgary native Kiesa Rae Ellestad. Growing up, she studied dance and theater before following her brother into the Royal Canadian Navy. She later attended music school and wrote songs for other artists.
• She wrote the lyrics for “Hideaway” in just 10 minutes and finished the recording in 90. The single reached No. 1 in the UK, went Top 5 in Canada, and earned her four Juno Award nominations. She won Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Dance Recording of the Year, and Video of the Year.
• Inspired by ’90s dance-pop, Kiesza’s 2014 major label debut, Sound of a Woman, topped the US dance charts.
• Kiesza has guested on albums by Duran Duran, Pitbull, and Jack Ü, the collaboration between Diplo and Skrillex. She’s also collaborated multiple times with rapper Joey Bada$$.
• She suffered traumatic brain injuries due to a 2017 taxi collision. Her extensive recovery included spending six months in a dark room.
• In 2020, Kiesza returned with her second full-length, Crave, inspired by ’80s pop.
