About Khann

Orlando, FL's Khann embrace the progressive heavy metal espoused by other mid-'00s outfits such as Intronaut, Rwake, and Mastodon, only chopped up into crustcore-sized, minute-long pieces (think His Hero Is Gone), and spiked with a penchant for unpredictable songwriting reminiscent of noise-rockers the Jesus Lizard. Initially comprised of vocalist Josh Vitale, guitarist Andrew LaCour, bassist Jake Smith, and drummer Josh Dulcie -- all of whom are committed Vegans, incidentally -- Khann obviously brought their eating habits to bear on their debut album for Metal Blade, Tofutopia, which was released in 2007. Second guitarist Matt Sutton was added soon after the album's release in order to flesh out the group's sound on tour; but he apparently didn't last very long, and, according to recent reports, was briskly ousted along with longer serving frontman Vitale, leaving LaCour to assume vocals along with his guitar-playing duties. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
