About Keyton

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Growing up in rural Alabama, music was always in the air. Whether it was rock and blues, or choral and pop tunes, that constant mix shaped me early. Later on my Southern identity and musical rebellion pushed me into the discovery of alternative music What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Elliott Smith, Either/Or Fall Out Boy, Folie à Deux The Story So Far, The Story so Far My top albums are Fall Out Boy’s Folie à Deux for its soulful vocals, huge guitars, and genre-blending energy; Elliott Smith’s Either/Or for vulnerable lyricism; and The Story So Far’s "self-titled" album for a raw mix of post-hardcore and pop-punk Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Sunday (feat. Billy the Kid)” High school could feel isolating when you didn’t fit the mold. "Sunday" is important to me because it lays out that small-town pressure in a truthful way. It’s a song about wanting more from life, and knowing it’s still okay to be yourself. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of the most memorable moments was spending weeks touring the Southeast in the early 2000's, playing in a different city almost every night. That relentless grind taught me how to sharpen my craft and connect with audiences beyond my home town. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I've always prided myself on staying true to the emo genre, but I'd love to record a full-length album that pushes my sound. I'd also like to collaborate with musicians I grew up listening to, while reaching new audiences in honest, meaningful ways.
