About Kevin B. Selby

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember piano recitals at Battelle, Pacific Northwest Laboratory's auditorium on a black Steinway grand piano. Those were the days launching into Chopin and Debussy! Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “B-Street” This song, for me, captures EXACTLY what I was trying to achieve with the entire album Palouse. Gritty(ish), somewhat basic but cool chord progression, and a decent simple melody. We recently returned to the WSU campus and felt the same vibe. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Self-producing my own albums has been memorable. Each one is special to me. Each one means a lot to me because they're my "voice" and what I want to "say" with my gift. Into the Green is, next to Palouse, the most memorable experience in producing. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? ABSOLUTELY! My dream is to get a band of musicians together (drums, bass, guitar, sax/flute, and myself) and do nothing but record and perform our own jazz compositions. I still have more smooth jazz albums as well as solo piano albums left to do.
