In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Making mix-tapes and covers on tape for my Mom to listen to on her way to work at the hospital. Road-trips with Shania Twain and Celine Dion. Growing up, Show Choir was a huge part of my life. Our tours in Japan got me interested in Asia. Why did you choose these three albums in particular? 2NE1, 2NE1 BEST COLLECTION -Korea Edition- Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Larson, Rosario Dawson, Rent (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) Demi Lovato, Dancing With The Devil…The Art of Starting Over 2NE1 “Collection” , Demi Lovato’s “Dancing With the Devil”, and finally RENT.. 2NE1 rose to fame as I was a pre-college student in Japan and I had never heard anything like it. Demi because we all have problems. And RENT because it defined an era. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Victim (Instrumental)” Victim is literally about rolling your eyes at a partner who tried so hard to manipulate reality, and make you out to be someone you’re not. It’s about accepting that you can’t always control the way you’re perceived, but you can love yourself. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? During our Peace Education Tour in Japan, I got the chance to sing “Threnody” to atomic bomb survivors. That experience changed my life, and sparked my interest in both Japanese, and then Taiwanese culture. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I prepped an entire album after a divorce that came second to academic pursuits, but I’ve started working on it again and plan on finishing [I Live For Me] in the coming year.
