In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest musical memories was watching my dad conduct his jazz band. I went to his concerts all the time. He was the head of the music program at Northwestern University for 26 years. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Shut Up” This song to me encompasses MomCore, the genre I created. One day my daughter was being sassy and talking back and it really pissed me off. I went into my studio to write and this song just poured out of me. What you hear is exactly as I wrote it. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I created the MomCore show and sold out The Annoyance Theatre and the historic Fitzgerald's Nightclub. My band plays my music and Chicago's top comedians improvise scenes based off of my songs. Stand up opens the show and it's a blast. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I used to want a Grammy but now I just want to be the bartender on WWHL. I also want the MomCore show to play cities around the country. Combining my music with stand up comedy and top notch Chicago improvisers is a dream come true.
