About Junkie XL

Producer and composer Tom Holkenborg chose the name Junkie XL to reflect his obsessive work ethic and desire for “expanding limits.” ∙ Early in his career, he performed with Dutch new wavers Weekend at Waikiki, formed industrial rock outfit Nerve, and produced heavy metal bands like Sepultura. ∙ Junkie XL collaborators include members of The Cure, Depeche Mode, Public Enemy, Tears for Fears, and Urban Dance Squad. ∙ His 2002 remix of Elvis Presley’s “A Little Less Conversation,” created for a national ad campaign, was a #1 hit in more than a dozen countries. ∙ Holkenborg has crafted original music for several video games, including FIFA 18, Forza Motorsport, Madden NFL 16, and The Sims 2. ∙ Holkenborg’s film score résumé includes 300: Rise of an Empire, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Deadpool, Divergent, and Mad Max: Fury Road. ∙ In addition to teaching at a Dutch art institute, Holkenborg operates a film composition academy in Los Angeles.
