About Joseph James

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was 16 in 1978, I went to a dance in Corpus Christi at the Yellow Rose. My uncle, Roy Richter, lead singer of the Echos, let me come up on stage behind Rudy, his drummer. The power from the music & the drums pulled me in. Changed my life. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bread, The Best of Bread Keith Green, Keith Green Collection Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers Foreigner was also one of my favorites. These four were very instrumental in my teenage years. A mixture of Christian, Rock, and Country, all of which I pull from as I write my music. I love the openness, honesty, and romance. It's what I try to do. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “I Want to Love You” I wrote this song special for my wife, telling her how much I love her. It started going viral. I had surgery on her birthday for an 8 mm cerebral aneurysm in 2024, so I created a new music video so she could hear my voice while in the waiting room. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I played at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in The Woodlands. A lady came to me after the show. She was from Illinois. Her sister overdosed while she was there visiting her. She walked into the hotel devastated, heard my music, & it refreshed her. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Yes, I'm just getting started. Playing at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands Texas, Australia, Uk. I want to bring hope and encouragement to people everywhere. I want to give them a reason to live, to go for their dreams. Life!
