About Jonathan Suazo
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. The 1st time I felt drawn learn to learning music was when I heard Miguel Zenon performing at a yearly jam session he held in Rio Piedras PR for a number of years, the way they shock up the room with the energy ignited a fire within me. 2009 What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? David Sánchez, Melaza Kenny Garrett, Beyond the Wall Paoli Mejias, Jazzambia My 1st Jazz gig was with the P. Mejías 5tet and the music we played was from "Jazzambia". "Melaza" gave me a new perspective on composition through a Caribbean lens. "Beyond the Wall" is my all time favorite, high emotion, great writing, killing band Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Don't Take Kindly (feat. Tanicha López)” This track blends the traditional Jazz Quartet with Puerto Rican Bomba drums and vocals. The result is a track with high emotional content that always invites us to go all in when we perform it. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In October 2025 I recorded my upcoming album RICANO vol.2 which features Zaccai Curtis, Francisco Alcalá, Benito Gonzalez, Ian Ashby, Fabiola Méndez, Jeremy Bosch, Paoli Mejias, Kike Serrano and Edmar Colón. We made something beautiful. It drops 5/8 Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There are still so many things I want to do. The main ones would be: Touring with my band internationally, getting the opportunity to collaborate with more of my favorite artists, and if God allows it being considered for a Grammy award.
