About John Vanderslice
John Vanderslice started out as a member of MK Ultra in the 1990s, making three albums with the band before they threw in the towel. His subsequent solo career began with the 2000 album MASS SUICIDE OCCULT FIGURINES. Vanderslice's blend of indie-rock urgency, power-pop hooks, and sophisticated lyricism grew ever more accomplished with each album, and won him a loyal cult following. Establishing his own recording studio in San Francisco, Vanderslice also found work as a producer with Spoon, the Mountain Goats, and others.
