John Kelly

About John Kelly

John Kelly is best known as the frontman of the Kelly Family. From age seven to age 25, he sang in the group, recording 25 albums that sold 20 million units worldwide (their 1994 release Over the Hump is Germany's top-selling album of all time), touring America, Asia, Africa, and Europe, and gathering numerous awards along the way. Kelly is married to Maite Itoiz, daughter of Spanish guitarist Carlos Itoiz. They met a few times when they were both children, but didn't see each other again until they were both young adults in 1997, and then married in 2001. When the Kelly Family split, John started to work as a manager for his wife. They both worked together on Maite's solo album Bello Puccini, on which she sings several Puccini arias, and then worked on their collaborative album Tales from the Secret Forest, which was released in 2007 and combines Celtic folk, orchestra, synthesizer, Gregorian chants, and rock elements. Kelly continues to be active as a producer and composer and has also worked as a director and cameraman. ~ Christian Genzel
