Johannes Brassart

About Johannes Brassart

A French composer who served in or for Liege, the Council of Basle, Albert II, Frederick III and Tongres. The genres of his compositions -- given the time in which he wrote -- are extensive and include movements from masses, introductions to church services, and a number of other sacred pieces. In Brassart's mass movements the Glorias and Credos demonstrate a synthesis; his motets are uniquely ornate. ~ Keith Johnson
