In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my first pro gigs was with Ray Charles at a private party. There were sound issues and he said "sound man stay off the knobs!" But I'll never forget what he said next, "All I'm trying to do is play some nice music for these nice folks." What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Joe Henderson, Inner Urge (The Rudy Van Gelder Edition) [Remastered] Joe Lovano, Joe Lovano Quartets - Live at the Village Vanguard 2 CD Set Wayne Shorter, Night Dreamer (Rudy Van Gelder Edition) Impossible to pick only 3 albums, but these three tenor titans created unique voices that are unmistakable. Tell us why you chose this song. “If You Say So” I wrote this tune in the spirit of "Nostalgia in Times Square" by Charles Mingus, but with a double-time feel and in the key of B. The first time the group played it as a quartet was during the recording session, so it felt fresh and energetic. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Soloing for 40,000 people when I toured with A.R. Rahman. I even played call-and-response with the audience and they killed it! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to feature one or more leading artists on my next album.
