About Jean-Yves Thibaudet
Renowned French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet started early, performing publicly at age 7 and winning the Paris Conservatory’s Premier Prix du Conservatoire at 15.
∙ He has performed with nearly all of the world’s top orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Berliner Philharmoniker.
∙ Numerous films have featured his music, including Pride & Prejudice and Atonement, the latter of which won an Oscar for Best Original Score.
∙ A noted champion of French classical music, Thibaudet marked Erik Satie’s 150th birthday by recording a box set of the composer’s complete solo piano works.
∙ The French Ministry of Culture appointed him a Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2001 and promoted him to Officier in 2012.
∙ In 2007, Thibaudet received a lifetime achievement award at the classical music Victoires—France’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
∙ The Hollywood Bowl inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 2010, placing him alongside such past honorees as Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson, and George Harrison.
