In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I first played music in an recorder class. I wanted to play guitar, but two years recorder lessons was mandatory. Then my parents bought me a guitar and jamming with my little drummer brother could begin. Great musical start for my saxophone career. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Meredith d'Ambrosio, Little Jazz Bird Miles Davis, Kind of Blue Paul Desmond, Skylark M. d'Ambrosio, I love her beautiful voice, but most of all I admire the sublime saxophone fills and solo's of Phil Woods. Kind of Blue is a must have for any jazz muscian. Desmond is my absolute roll model, Take Ten and Skylark my favorite tunes. Tell us why you chose this song. “Terug Naar Westers” Westers was an establishment in Amsterdam where I spent a lot of sad and happy (and romantic) evenings when I lived there during and after my studies. If the tune sounds longing, that's why. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One performance I vividly remember was on a wedding in IJmuiden. I started at the reception with my bass player, played at dinner with my latin-jazz quartet and finished the evening playing with my jazz sextet. Food and drinks were not provided... Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I definitely still want to write a ballad album and record it with even more smooth velvet subtone mouthpieces on my alto and tenor saxophone. Don't know yet if it will be romantic or melancholy, probably both.
