About Jake Harper
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest musical memories is listening to Black Dog by Led Zeppelin in my dad's car at the Jack in the box drive-through. It completely changed everything I knew rock to be. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Miles Davis, 'Round About Midnight (Legacy Edition) The Beatles, Revolver These three albums cover my favorite sounds and largest influences-- rock with pop sensibility and light experimentalism, hip hop/R&B with the same approach, and jazz instrumentation that captures improvisation and virtuosic soloing. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Pariah” This song was the turning point for me. I had written Pariah as my band was splitting up, and after experimenting with it live, I recorded, mixed, and mastered it more precisely than usual. I love the guitar solo, and it has a sound all its own. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of my most memorable moments was playing my song Words live acoustically. I was proud to have found an acoustic arrangement that worked, and the crowd applauded throughout and after the song. It was my first time feeling good about playing live. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I just want to make music that I would listen to, that I would like. I am selfish.
