Jackie Cohen

About Jackie Cohen

Offering a blend of vintage sounds including early psychedelic folk, country, and portable-radio-filtered '70s AM pop, N.Y.C.-based singer/songwriter Jackie Cohen makes a melancholic brand of indie pop. She sang backup for Foxygen before issuing her first solo EP in 2018. A native of the San Fernando Valley, Cohen moved to the Lower East Side of Manhattan as a young adult in the early 2010s to study literature. She eventually experimented with poetry, spoken-word pieces, and songwriting. Making fans of certain other retro-minded indie musicians, she played piano, sitar, and sang on the 2014 Foxygen LP …And Star Power before eventually signing with Spacebomb Records as a solo artist. Her debut EP, 2018's Tacoma Night Terror, Pt. 1: I've Got the Blues, was produced by Foxygen's Jonathan Rado along with the Lemon Twigs' Brian and Michael D’Addario. ~ Marcy Donelson
