About J-MAX

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a kid I remember my parents always playing music. Growing up biracial, I was exposed to a plethora of music, anything from John Mayer to Eric B. & Rakim. My earliest memory of music is going on family road trips listening to music in the car. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Jon Bellion, The Human Condition Logic, Under Pressure Tunji Ige, Missed Calls These are the albums that have helped mold/ inspire my sound as an artist and hold monumental value in my musical journey. Apart from the nostalgia, these projects accomplish what I strive for when I create... authenticity, uniqueness, and honesty. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “I” I'll never forget the night I made this song, the production and lyrics gave me goosebumps. I think all of us struggle with selfishness whether we like to admit it or not. This song is a self reflection & call to recognize life isn't always about us. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Honestly I can't think of one moment that just stands out above all of the others. For me, the most memorable parts of this journey have been just creating the music itself. If I had to pick one thing I guess I would say releasing my first song. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? It's funny, I'm finally in the mentality as an artist where I don't really care about accolades. I just want to create music and spread encouragement doing it. But I would like to work with people like Jon Bellion, Rick Rubin, Pharrell, and Timbaland
