About Imogen Heap
Classically trained on several instruments from an early age, English experimental pop artist Imogen Heap began writing songs when she was 13. ∙ In her teens, she recorded demos with help from English singer-songwriter Nik Kershaw, which resulted in her first record deal. ∙ She collaborated with legendary guitarist Jeff Beck on his 2001 album, You Had It Coming, contributing vocals to the tracks “Dirty Mind” and “Rollin’ and Tumblin’.” ∙ “Let Go,” a song recorded by Heap’s electronica duo, Frou Frou, was prominently featured in Zach Braff’s film Garden State. ∙ Her 2005 a cappella single, “Hide and Seek,” was extensively sampled four years later for Jason Derulo’s hit “Whatcha Say.” ∙ Ellipse (2009) and Sparks (2014) reached the UK Top 40 and topped Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronica Albums chart. ∙ Heap has won two Grammy Awards for her production and engineering work—in 2010 for Ellipse, and in 2016 for Taylor Swift’s 1989.
