About Imaad Wasif
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Imaad Wasif has released six solo albums with a career spanning collaborations with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Lou Barlow, and fronting L.A. underground slowcore legends lowercase. He continues to push the boundaries of rock, folk, and experimental music. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Wasif has created a wide body of work that includes numerous projects (psych-rock mavericks alaska!, The New Folk Implosion, Grim Tower, ACID, and writing songs with Karen O for the soundtrack of Spike Jonze’s “Where the Wild Things Are”). Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Blending elements of minimalism, goth folk, Indian ragas and post-punk with psychedelic and exploratory guitar playing, Superconsciousness, is an unflinching self-portrait, an echoic reflection of a voice in the void, an embodiment of catharsis.
