Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet

About Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet

Formed in 1984, this Toronto trio began as a punk quartet before jettisoning their lead singer and applying modern punk sensibilities to the instrumental music of the '60s--most notably Dick Dale-style surf. With rip-curl-ready chops and a rock geek's deep affection for their material, Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet reached a wide audience as the house band for the cult sketch comedy show THE KIDS IN THE HALL, for which they wrote the theme song, "Having An Average Weekend." The trio recorded a few albums--most notably SPORT FISHIN' with producer Steve Albini--before breaking up in 1996.
