About Ice Karim

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest musical memory is hearing "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five. My parents introduced me to the purest forms of hip-hop growing up. this song being the template. Social commentary, flow, beat, cadence, etc. I was hooked. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Mos Def, Black On Both Sides Nas, Illmatic The Roots, Things Fall Apart These albums represent for me what the art form is all about: reflecting the times, touching the soul, and reflecting the heart. I can remember where I was when I heard of these bodies of work, and I am still deciphering layers from each of them. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Answers” This song was inspired by joints like Common and Mos Def's "The Questions" and Jadakiss' "Why?". I wanted to write a song that explained how I felt when I turned on the TV or opened Twitter. I kept asking "Why?" This is for folks who can relate. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I've been blessed to appear on radio and TV in my young career. The highlight thus far was winning the I Got Next Challenge by DJ EZ Street, Iran, and Gemini's Academy DC. I won radio play, and a music video played in over 250 DTLR stores in the USA.
