About Herb Alpert

Known for his mariachi-inspired easy listening sound, trumpeter/singer Herb Alpert is one of the most successful artists in pop history. He is also the co-founder of A&M Records -- one of the most prosperous artist-owned companies. Leading the the Tijuana Brass, Alpert established himself with Top Ten hits like 1962's "The Lonely Bull" and 1965's Grammy-winning "A Taste of Honey" off Whipped Cream & Other Delights. His classic 1968 version of Burt Bacharach's "This Guy's in Love with You" became his first number one. As pop music evolved, so did Alpert, embracing soft rock, disco, and R&B, as on 1979's Rise. He also earned respect as a painter and founded his philanthropic Herb Alpert Foundation. Along with his wife vocalist Lani Hall, Alpert remains a vital performer. He won a Grammy for 2013's I Feel You and was the subject of the career-spanning 2020 documentary film, Herb Alpert Is....
