About Gwen Stefani

After the release of Rock Steady, No Doubt took a break. Lead singer Gwen Stefani began work on a solo album she intended to be "fast and easy," but it morphed into something much bigger -- more polished, slick, and dance-oriented, with Linda Perry, Dr. Dre, the Neptunes, Dallas Austin, Andre 3000, Nellee Hooper, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis all involved. The album, Love.Angel.Music.Baby., hit the shelves in 2004. Her schedule remained busy through 2006, including work on a second solo album. The Neptunes-produced "Wind It Up" arrived that fall and heralded the full-length The Sweet Escape. ~ David Jeffries
