About Grupo Sombras
Argentinean six-piece tropical act Grupo Sombras was formed in the late '70s by keyboardist Juan Zapana and drummer Pascual Benítez. Soon after moving from Jujuy to Buenos Aires, the band recorded an EP called Bailando Con El Grupo Sombras, selling 10,000 copies without any publicity. When singer Antonio Rios joined in, Grupo Sombras made its debut album, A Todo Baile, climbing on local charts with "Vibrando" and "La Mala Gata." The group also participated in a compilation called Golpe Norteño in 1989. After signing up to local label Magenta Discos, the band recorded Dulce Amor, featuring songs performed by Jorge Avila, followed by Soñando Con Vos and Niña Caprichosa, becoming a top selling artist in Argentina. ~ Drago Bonacich
