Essential Albums
- Gorgon City are no strangers to the dance floor; flitting between deep house and UK garage, their drum grooves are irresistibly slinky, and their basslines are guaranteed to get waists winding. (Just check the cascading low end of "Ready for Your Love.") But the duo are pop musicians at heart, which helps explain their debut album's irresistible melodies and elegant chord progressions. Jennifer Hudson dazzles on the '80s-inspired "Go All Night," while Maverick Sabre brings soulful grit to the longing "Coming Home." For diehard house heads, "Try Me Out" is a perfect late-night jam.

About Gorgon City
From initially coming together for what was supposed to be a one-off collaboration, North London duo Gorgon City helped take a new generation of UK dance music worldwide with its deep, bass-driven house sound. Kye “Foamo” Gibbon and Matt “RackNRuin” Robson-Scott released their first EP, The Crypt, in 2012 and quickly broke through with their 2013 track “Real.” Capitalizing on the momentum, in 2014 Gorgon City released its debut album, Sirens, whose danceable grooves, pop-vocal structure, and guest features—including MNEK (“Ready for Your Love”), Anne-Marie (“Elevate”), and Jennifer Hudson (“Go All Night”)—cemented its crossover success. While Gibbon and Robson-Scott have continued to bring big pop hooks to their growing catalog, they just as often wear their underground influences on their sleeve, whether it’s peeks of grime and breakbeats or low-end-heavy club weapons. “With every album, we’re constantly trying out new things,” Gibbon told Apple Music, “experimenting with new sounds, being inspired by what we’re hearing on the road.”
