About Gordy Garris

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My dad who passed away in 2021, was the bassist for a popular Michigan rock band called The Frost. When I was 9 years old my dad taught me how to play guitar. At age 13 I took up playing piano and by age 16 I began singing & songwriting. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Coldplay, X&Y Switchfoot, The Beautiful Letdown (Deluxe Version) TobyMac, The Elements Coldplay helped me learn music while i was growing up. I will always be thankful for their music and live show with loving people no matter what as a universal theme behind what they do. Switchfoot and TobyMac showed me Christian music can be fun! Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Let Me In” Let Me In is about finding a love that never gives up on you. This song holds a special place in my heart as the first song I ever wrote that made it onto the radio. I didn't have God in mind when I wrote it, but I can see his hands all over it now. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I use to think it was awards, accolades and playing in big cities or in front of big crowds. It wasn't until I gave my life and my music up to God and started dedicating it all to him that I reaped the biggest reward of all! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? While I think getting dove awards or playing major Christian music festivals would be a major blessing to minister over people- the truth is I really only want what the Lord has for me in this life.
