GIO is the musical project of Blake Carpenter, built around a fictional character: Giordano Paulo Orsini, an immortal born April 17, 1458 in Umbria, Italy, and raised in Renaissance Florence. GIO is signed to Morella Records, a Georgia-based independent label dedicated to authentic gothic rock, darkwave, deathrock, and post-punk. No crossover. No compromise. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? The second album, Sanctified Hunger, arrives fall 2026. The third, Semprevive, follows in January 2027, a concept album exploring the women of Edgar Allan Poe's fiction through five centuries of grief.
