About Georgie Fame
U.K. musical legend Georgie Fame--born Clive Powell--emerged in the late 1950s, as part of the Larry Parnes stable of stars, alongside Billy Fury and Marty Wilde. Fame was an early champion of blue beat and ska, as well as an accomplished Hammond organ player, but it was his dedication to jazz and "vocalese" that earned him his first big hit, "Yeh Yeh", which topped the U.K. charts. As his solo success began to dwindle, Fame teamed up with Van Morrison for a series of well-received albums, before returning to "vocalese" with 2000s critically acclaimed solo album, POET IN NEW YORK.
