In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Not my earliest, but the first time I heard a piece I'd written, performed live, was terrifying. I was a high school senior added to a college's composers concert and a professional performed my piano work. You learn a lot in those situations! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Julian Lage, Scenes From Above (feat. John Medeski, Jorge Roeder & Kenny Wollesen) Ludovic Morlot, Seattle Symphony, John Luther Adams: Become Ocean Wilco, A Ghost Is Born Hard to name three, so here are three that I love. Become Ocean is my favorite "new" orchestra pieces, A Ghost is Born is my favorite Wilco album, and Scenes from Above just sounds so lovely. Tell us why you chose this song. “Black Lion” Black Lion has almost all of the elements I enjoy about making and performing music. Its genesis was collaborative and experimental and has elements of rock and classical music. It's electric and it's acoustic and continues to open doors for me. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Spending a day at Sylvan Esso's studio to track 2025's "It Goes On" is a highlight for sure. Producer Shane Leonard assembled an amazing band, adding bass, violin, and drums to a simple tune, bringing it to life. An unforgettable, whirlwind of a day.
