About Geisha

The rise of lovelorn, melancholic pop-rock in the mid-to-late 2000s was largely male-dominated, which made Geisha’s debut at the tail-end of the decade a breath of fresh air. The Pekanbaru-bred band quickly hit it big on the strength of their heartfelt anthems featuring the soaring vocals of ex-frontwoman Momo. Songs like “Jika Cinta Dia” and “Lumpuhkan Ingatanku” capture the essence of their sweeping rock—with bright guitars and swelling strings—that became part of the soundtrack for the dejected, making the five-piece one of Indonesia’s leading groups of the 2010s.
