About GAWVI

Producer, singer, and rapper GAWVI is a Christian artist whose blend of hip-hop, pop, and Latin sounds has earned him a widespread audience. • GAWVI was born Gabriel Alberto Azucena in the Bronx to an El Salvadorian father and Dominican mother. He was raised in Miami with a Christian belief system that’s served as a backbone for much of his songwriting. • As a teenager, he began producing for the local Christian hip-hop outfit Rhema Soul. He later interned at Pharrell’s Miami recording studio. • For many years, Azucena worked behind the scenes as a producer for the Christian label Reach Records. There, he crafted tracks for Christian hip-hop luminaries like Lecrae and Trip Lee. • GAWVI’s 2016 debut EP, Lost In Hue, went Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart and reached No. 2 on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. • His debut album, We Belong, cracked the Top 10 of both the US Christian and dance music album charts. • GAWVI has also left his mark on sports. He produced the beat for Andy Mineo’s 2014 track “You Can’t Stop Me,” which became a popular MLB walk-up song.
