Brooklyn-based rapper and songwriter GASHI’s music fuses hip-hop, R&B, and pop. ∙ After living as refugees in several countries, his family settled in New York, where listening to rap music helped young GASHI learn English. ∙ His debut mixtape, 2011’s Last of a Rare Breed, featured guest turns by Nipsey Hussle on “Never Coming Back” and French Montana on “Until the Day I Die.” ∙ In 2016, he released his first EP, Stairs, and made a guest appearance on French artist DJ Snake’s hit debut album, Encore. ∙ “Disrespectful,” from 2017, was his first big viral hit, garnering more than 15 million streams in less than three months. ∙ GASHI’s 2019 self-titled debut album featured “My Year,” with G-Eazy—which cracked the Top 20 of Billboard’s Rap Digital Song Sales chart—and “Safety,” with DJ Snake. ∙ Pop star Sting made a guest appearance on the song and video “Mama,” from GASHI’s 2020 sophomore album, 1984.
