About Gary DeMichele
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. We had a console stereo in our living room and my parents often played the Beach Boys' Endless Summer. I'd lie on the ground not too far way and lose myself in the music. It was my first experience of music transporting me to another place and time. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Brandi Carlile, Give Up The Ghost Cloud Cult, The Seeker U2, Achtung Baby These all showed up at pivotal times in my life. Achtung Baby's production taught me that you can have a great song and totally wild production. Give Up the Ghost showed me what great writing can be. The Seeker told me it's OK to go deep. Very deep. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “You Ain't Coming Home” I wrote this during the pandemic when so many of us were desperately missing our loved ones. The vocal is from the demo I made when I wrote it. One take. I later tried to beat it (as we typically do) but nothing came close to that original emotion. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? There have been so many. The most memorable that relate to Apple Music are those times someone in some part of the world has heard one of my songs and reaches out to let me know how much it moved them. I'm still blown away by the worldwide connection Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? It's a joy and a privilege to write and produce songs. My top bucket list item (if this counts) would be a long career of writing songs, collaborating with talented pros and sharing the music with the world.
