Francesco Biscogli

About Francesco Biscogli

The only work of Francesco Biscogli that survives is a concerto written for trumpet, oboe, bassoon and two violins. It is possible that a flute concerto designated as a composition of Antonio Biscogli is Francesco's. The undisputed piece however, uncontestably has a Neopolitan character since no part for viola is present and, it was probably composed for a challenge -- either virtuosically or academically -- for the other instrumentalists. ~ Keith Johnson
