Singer/songwriter Farina became the second Colombian artist signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label after Shakira. Farina Pao was born in Medellin, Columbia in 1986, and went on to become a pioneer of urban music in her native country. She rose to fame as a contestant on The X Factor in 2005, and the following year she released her debut record, Yo Soy Farina, which was heavily indebted to her biggest influence, dancehall. In 2011 she embarked on a successful career in acting. In 2017 Farina was signed to rapper Jay-Z's Roc Nation label and began work on her third record, Mejor Que Yo, with production help from Wyclef Jean (Shakira, Whitney Houston). ~ Bekki Bemrose
