Eyes of the Sun

An atmosphere-heavy, Brooklyn-based doom metal trio, Eyes of the Sun were conceived in 2007 by bassist/vocalist Jeff Blanchard and guitarist and Ashes Within co-founder Miguel De Jesus, Jr. After enduring a few years of lineup shifting, the group solidified around the core trio of Blanchard, De Jesus, and drummer Chris O'Neil, and in 2010 the band issued an eponymous debut EP independently. Three years later saw the release of Eyes of the Sun's first full-length outing, the aptly named Chapter I, which was reissued in 2018 after the group inked a deal with Metal Blade's Blacklight Media imprint. ~ James Christopher Monger
