The daughter of Canadian poet/lyricist Paul Haines (best known for his contribution to Carla Bley's ESCALATOR OVER THE HILL), Emily Haines came to fame as a member of Canada's indie-rock cult heroes Broken Social Scene (the band that also spawned the solo career of Feist). She pursued her own vision as the frontwoman for alt-rockers Metric, but the singer/keyboardist has also maintained a solo career, recording her quirky art pop tunes as Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton.
