Edgar Froese

About Edgar Froese

Although known primarily as the leader of Tangerine Dream, and as such, one of the key figures in the creation of the aesthetics of both Krautrock and New Age music, Edgar Froese also had a breathtakingly prolific solo career, releasing albums under his own name beginning in 1974. His main body of work was a several-volume series called AMBIENT HIGHWAY, although he also recorded several stand-alone works. Less song-oriented than his Tangerine Dream compositions, the music on Froese's solo albums tended more toward the pastoral, although drama and dynamics managed to sneak into everything the artist touched.
