b. Dublin, Eire. Deane is a blues guitarist and singer who came to prominence in the mid-60s. Although he customarily plays a left-handed instrument, he is comfortable playing the more common right-handed version upside down or even, at times, in an orthodox manner. The guitar is by no means Deane’s only instrument. He is also an able performer on lap steel guitar, mandolin, keyboards and bazouki, as well as credibly playing classical guitar. He also sometimes plays tin-whistle and Irish low whistle. Over the years, Deane has worked with saxophonist and harmonica player Eamonn Murray, keyboard player James Delaney, bass players Chris Mayfield and Javier Garcia, and drummers Fran Byrne and Chris Hunt. He toured with shows headlined by artists such as B.B. King, Frankie Miller and Terry Woods, and has appeared on record with Miller, Dana Gillespie, Dave Kelly, Graham Parker and Bob Pearce. Despite several decades in the music business, it was not until 2006 that Deane made his own-name album debut. Included in his repertoire and appearing on that debut are ‘Love The Way You Do’, ‘There’s A Man Goin’ Round’, ‘Palm Tree Strut’, ‘High Desert Blues’, ‘Winter Star’ and ‘Lost In Paradise’.
