About dryve
One of the most promising groups in San Diego, during the early-1990s, Dryve was on the verge of national success when it disbanded in 1998. Their self-produced debut album, Hum, released in November 1994, included the winner of a San Diego Songwriters' Guild competition, "Happy Song", and was nominated for "best rock album" at the San Diego Music Awards. Their first nationally released album, Thrifty Mr. Kickstar, which received a San Diego Music Award as "best adult alternative album of 1997", included the college radio hit single, "Nervous". They toured with the Call, later the same year. Dryve represented the meeting of two duos -- one featuring guitarists/vocalists Paul Donovan and Cory Verner and the other, lead guitarist Steve Pratschner and drummer Keith Andrew. Shortly after being formed, in 1993, the group was expanded with the addition of Pratschner's brothers, David, on accordion and organ, and Michael on bass. ~ Craig Harris
