The Detroit street-rap duo Drego & Beno features a pair of godbrothers who’ve known each other since they were nine years old. They came up freestyling together. • Before the duo formed in early 2018, Drego gained local fame by rapping on fellow Detroit rhymer Sada Baby’s viral hit “Bloxk Party.” • Drego & Beno released their debut mixtape, Sorry for the Get Off, in July 2018. The 14-track collection combines gritty street narratives with hard-hitting drums and funky bass lines. • The duo embraced Auto-Tune melodies on 2019’s Meet Us Outer Space, then returned to more familiar territory on the aptly titled follow-up Sorry for the Auto Tune. • Each group memeber has a distinct role. Drego is the main lyricist, while Beno considers himself more of an entertainer.
