Daniel Ellsworth & the Great Lakes are an indie rock band whose energetic style and busy tour schedule have won them a loyal following. After Ellsworth self-released a solo album, he put out an EP as Daniel Ellsworth & the Great Lakes. However, Ellsworth didn't have a proper backing band until 2010. Once formed, they began making a name for themselves on the Southern club circuit. After Ellsworth competed on The Sing Off as a member of vocal group the Collective, he and the Great Lakes released Civilized Man (2011), and the band spent months on the road. Kid Tiger (2014) earned the group more positive press as they continued to tour. They returned with a five-song effort called Bemidji in 2016. ~ Mark Deming
