Cormorant

About Cormorant

Reaching back in time to a more psychedelic period in metal history, Cormorant blend classic progressive, power, and black metal. Based out of the Bay Area, the band was formed in 2007 by Arthur von Nagel (bass/vocals), Nick Cohon (guitar), and Brennan Kunkel (drums). With a creative drive that matched the intensity of their music, Cormorant set right to work, and by the end of the year released their first EP, The Last Tree. The following year the trio became a quartet, adding guitarist Matt Solis to the band before getting back to the grindstone to craft 2009's full-length debut, Metazoa, with producer Billy Anderson. Throughout all of this, the band stayed independent, recording and releasing its albums and booking shows without the backing of a label. In 2011, Cormorant continued to forge their own path with their second album, Dwellings. Earth Diver arrived in 2014, followed in 2017 by the eclectic Diaspora. ~ Gregory Heaney
