About Confidence Man
Begun in 2016 as a lighthearted alternative to the members’ other bands, Confidence Man immediately tapped into the blissful nostalgia of clubbing in the ’90s and other past eras. Fronted by a pair of kinetic and ultra-charismatic singers with the aliases Janet Planet and Sugar Bones, the Brisbane act made their tongue-in-cheek intentions all too clear across their 2018 debut, Confident Music for Confident People, with sassy statements like “Don’t You Know I’m in a Band” and “C.O.O.L Party.” The rave-driven 2022 follow-up TILT broke the band properly in the UK, where they slayed Glastonbury, won a fan in Noel Gallagher, and eventually relocated to London. Remixes followed from the likes of Tame Impala, Erol Alkan, and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, while the front duo grew quickly into their accidental roles as international pop stars, cheekily taking a naked helicopter ride in the video for 2024’s “I CAN’T LOSE YOU.” The same year’s 3AM (LA LA LA) pushed their self-aware hooks and mantras into harder, brasher territory on tracks like “SO WHAT” and “BREAKBEAT.”
