Findland's funeral doom merchants Colosseum came together after Yearning's Juhani became frustrated with that project's sound, and wanted to slow things down a bit. With five full-lengths under his belt in his old guise, Juhani knew enough about the nuts and bolts of the music world to understand what he was getting into, and in 2006 formed the funeral doom act Colosseum to quench his thirst for the sludge of doom. Alongside Juhani were Olli Haaranen on guitars, Janne Rämö on bass, and Sameli Köykkä on drums. The group released a demo of tracks in progress in 2006, and signed with Firedoom records in 2007. Their first album, Chapter I: Delirium, was released in early 2008. ~ Chris True
