About Claptone
The anonymous German DJ and producer Claptone is a leader of the tech house world known for wearing a golden plague-doctor mask. • Though Claptone appears as a solo artist, he sometimes performs at more than one venue at a time, leading fans to speculate that there may be at least two individuals behind the project. • Claptone arrived on the scene in 2012 with the four-track EP She Loves You. The bass-driven melodies and funky rhythms set the project’s tone, while 2013’s “No Eyes,” featuring JAW, became Calptone’s breakout hit. • Various indie-rock artists—including Peter Bjorn and John, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and Boxer Rebellion singer Nathan Nicholson—appear on Claptone’s 2015 debut album, Charmer. • With 2018’s Fantast, Claptone brought in more organic textures and moody emotions. The album features some of the same guest artists as Charmer, as well as new vocalists like Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke.
