About Chris Botti

One of the most successful crossover artists of his generation, Chris Botti is a lyrical jazz trumpeter whose romantic persona evokes his longstanding love of Miles Davis. Although he studied jazz and classical in college, Botti initially made his mark as a touring and session musician for pop luminaries like Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, and Paul Simon. However, it was after he joined Sting's band in 1999 that was able to take his solo career to an international level. Although he often utilizes superstar guest vocalists, Botti remains a virtuoso, and albums like 2004's When I Fall in Love, 2008's Live in Boston, and 2012's Grammy-winning Impressions showcase his penchant for combining sophisticated orchestral jazz, opera, and classical with a pop sensibility. ~ Matt Collar
